Propeller – a new fungicide for vegetables
and ornamentals
Interfarm UK is now supplying the systemic fungicide Propeller
for use in a number of vegetable and ornamental crops for
the control of a wide range of diseases, particularly during
crop establishment.
“Containing 722 g/l propamocarb as an easy to use
soluble concentrate, Propeller is a systemic carbamate fungicide
that helps to protect a range of vegetable and ornamental
crops from diseases such as Pythium, Peronospora and downy
mildew at establishment. It is recommended in Brussels sprouts,
cabbage, Chinese cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli, calabrese,
leeks, bulb onions, cucumber, aubergine, peppers and tomatoes,
bedding plants, pot plants, nursery stock, tulip bulbs and
established ornamentals,” advises Dr. David Stormonth,
Technical Manager, Interfarm (UK).
“Used as a soil or substrate drench, plant or bulb
dip or in irrigation systems, the fungicide is absorbed
by the roots and taken up into establishing plants where
it confers persistent protection against many foot rots,
root rots and damping off. Retained in the top few centimetres
of the soil, Propeller has a half life of around four weeks,
depending on conditions”, says David.
